Successful escape from traditional publisher - WHOOP!
My trilogy now free to read on Kindle Unlimited...and here on Audible...you can hear Chapter One, Book one here....
A long and sad tale that I will not tell. Nutshell got a 3 book deal from a major publisher and after they admitted they dropped the ball I got my rights back.
During the process they changed my title, from Frank & The Cuckoo to…..New Beginnings At The Birdie and Bramble - why did I capitulate? Face to face with a behemoth in the publishing world as a lone writer I assumed, despite by gut shouting noooooo, that they knew better - who knows maybe they did - but I hated it. To the extent when asked the title of my first novel I only whispered it, feeling a burning red faced shame that such a childish sounding book could have been written by someone over 6. To add insult to injury the cover they designed was ….well…not my chalice of hemlock..and so I lived with it, cringing.
So it turns out I cant change the title of your book - ever - if you want to hang onto the hundreds of reviews which I do as I treasure each and every single review from the lovely folk who read and enjoyed my books, so the title remains New Beginnings At The Birdie and Bramble Book 1/3
BUT
The covers have been redone and I am delighted with the result. Heather MacPherson at Raspberry Creative listened to my obsessions bright colours, sausage dogs and minimalism and here is the result Book 1. I love it.
What do you think? I know it’s out of focus but this is the inaugural Substack so hope am learning…slowly….
